I know it’s early, but the New York Giants are on the rise. They have moved up in the NFC playoff standings after winning two straight games.
Additionally, rookie wide receiver Jalin Hyatt and rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito, who both won after victories over the New England Patriots and the Washington Commanders, respectively, were named Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookies of the Week in back-to-back weeks.
Hyatt received the nod over a number of opponents, including wide receiver Zay Flowers of the Baltimore Ravens and quarterback C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans.
The Tennessee rookie gained 109 yards and a long of 41 yards by catching five of his six targets. Amani Toomer-like toe-tapping and excellent field awareness characterized two of his first down catches.
It was Hyatt’s first-ever 100-yard game in the NFL.
After the victory in Week 12, quarterback Tommy DeVito remarked, “He’s quarterback friendly.” “He’s just a unique individual, but anybody that’s that quick and can make the plays that he does is quarterback friendly, so it makes it much easier to put those balls up for him.” Whatever you want to call him—special player, route runner, whatever—he’s a self-assured guy. He tells me that if we call this, he’s going to make play. He says, “I’m going to go get this ball for you.” Thus, it relieves me of a lot of burdens.
Hyatt’s offensive role is growing every week, making him more and more dangerous as well as productive. Defenses simply can not match his speed or footwork.
