In Week 12, center Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles took issue with a “dirty” hit on guard Cam Jurgens during the Eagles’ game against the Buffalo Bills. Jordan Phillips, a defensive lineman for the Bills, made a suggestion that Kelce isn’t always correct.
Kelce’s argument centred on the fact that Jurgens jumped offside, and Phillips had no right to hit him. Phillips “purposefully” attempted to harm Jurgens, in his opinion.
On November 29, Kelce stated, “Teams are really trying to stop that play.” At the time, I thought it was bullshit. I did, truly. I told the field official as much. “I’ve been running that play for a lot of years,” I said. I’ve witnessed offside jumpers. After he leaped offsides, he did not try to stop. He attempted to harm Cam Jurgens on purpose. I believe he ought to have been fined for that play and that it should have been a personal foul.
The young offensive lineman was shoved by Phillips, who was positioned across from Jurgens, when the snap was preceded by a whistle and a penalty flag. Some saw the needless hit as a means of deterring Philadelphia from executing its trademark short-yardage run, the “tush push,” which is incredibly effective.
Phillips was going to fight back against Kelce’s charges.
Phillips told WROC-TV, “When you look at the ‘Tush Push,’ he dives at somebody’s knees every play and tries to roll them up.” “I don’t think he has any right or ability to demand a fine when he does a lot of things, even though he speaks about someone being dirty. I find it absurd that he would even bring up that.”
Phillips did not hold back in attributing Kelce’s increased notoriety to the “New Heights Podcast,” which he and his brother Travis run and are quite successful at. It seems to him that he is abusing his celebrity.
Regarding Jason Kelce, Phillips remarked, “He is a well-respected guy around the league for whatever reason.” “He thinks he can use his voice now that he has one, as he appears on his brother’s podcast. However, there is no logic to the way he is using his voice.”
During the game, Phillips got into a fight with Eagles supporters and was seen yelling into the stands with his teammates. Philadelphia proceeded to triumph 37–34.
