While still attempting to recover from his Achilles injury sustained in Week 1 of the season, Aaron Rodgers is inspiring his fellow New York Jets players at practice.
Rodgers felt well enough on Friday to play scout team defense in place of starting quarterback. He even made a leaping interception while playing linebacker at one point, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini. The absurd play had colleagues giggling.
Recalling the play, tackle Duane Brown “jumped up and caught it with one hand.” “He picked off a catch that was contested.”
If Rodgers is able to do something like that, it is evident that he is in good health, and the Jets are willing to let him push it a little if they do not attempt to stop him.
Although the Jets’ chances of making the playoffs may already be lost by the time Rodgers returns, he is reportedly eyeing the team’s Christmas Eve game against Washington. That would probably influence the choice. As of right now, the team’s practices are producing a lot of encouraging indicators.
