Billie Eilish gives Jake Peavy ‘huge street cred’ with son after wearing ex-MLB pitcher’s jersey on ‘SNL’

The reason behind pop singer Billie Eilish’s “Saturday Night Live” end-of-show farewell wearing a Jake Peavy jersey is still a mystery to us, but the former Chicago White Sox pitcher is glad she did.

“I’m going to make an effort, I’m coming in peace,” Peavy said to Matt Monagan of MLB.com. “I wanna sign a jersey for her.”
Does Billie support the White Sox? When Peavy was on the mound, could she not get enough of his wicked slider? Perhaps she was just drawn to the silver and black? She undoubtedly adores dressing in sports jerseys to events and concerts.

For whatever reason, when the SNL show came to an end, Peavy’s phone blew up. The reaction was unlike anything he had ever experienced, even as a player who had won a Cy Young Award and back-to-back World Series with separate teams.

“My phone started going crazy when it aired on the East Coast and that went on into the night,” Peavy said. “I don’t know the last time something got that much traction in my phone with text messages.”

What has made Peavy most proud of this baseball/pop culture cross-over is how much cooler he feels now that his 15-year-old son, Judd, enjoyed it.

“[Eilish] gave me huge street cred in my household and throughout the next generation,” Peavy said. “Us in the MLB world are appreciative of what she does.”

Cool with the teens? Wait until Peavy shows them this wild catch he made.
