closer and free agent many times Superstar Liam Hendriks has established a rigorous plan for his return to the major league mound after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He is currently recuperating from the procedure.

Hendriks, though, has a solid plan for both the present and the future. Right now, he sees a return around the ’24 Trade Deadline, which is sooner than the anticipated 12 to 14 months.
Hendriks laughed as he remarked, “I’m giving them a target date,” during our phone conversation on Monday.
Hendriks had surgery on August 2nd, thus it would take him almost a year to recover in time for the trade deadline. That’s ambitious, but maybe as a reliever, Hendriks would be able to recover more quickly because he wouldn’t have to worry about things like pitch count build-up.
And with Hendriks, it seems like everything is possible. Before suffering an elbow injury in May 2023, he had previously overcome a cancer diagnosis during the offseason following the 2022 season.
The 34-year-old, a 13-year big league veteran, is a three-time All-Star. He has been a player for the Athletics, White Sox, Blue Jays, Royals, and Twins.
When healthy, he played for Chicago from 2021 to 2022. With 38 saves, he topped the league in 2021. That year, he also assisted the White Sox in making the playoffs.
He is 33-34 with a 3.82 ERA in his career. His 116 career saves have mostly occurred since 2019.
Interestingly, Hendriks mentioned that the Chicago Cubs had gotten in touch with him soon after his White Sox option was turned down, despite the fact that he stated that no conversations with teams had really progressed.
