Aaron Nola pitched seven solid innings, Alec Bohm homered and drove in five runs, and the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Washington Nationals 11-5 on Sunday, completing a three-game sweep.
Bryce Harper had three hits and two RBIs for the Phillies, who have won six of their last seven games. Nick Castellanos also contributed three hits.
Nola (6-2) allowed three runs—two earned—on two hits, both home runs. He struck out five and walked three.
Jesse Winker and Eddie Rosario homered for the Nationals, who have lost five straight and finished 2-7 on their nine-game road trip.
Washington starter Trevor Williams surrendered three runs on five hits over 4 1/3 innings.
Kody Clemens doubled with one out in the second inning for Philadelphia and scored on a Castellanos single to center.
Bryson Stott and Harper followed with consecutive singles, with Stott advancing to third. Bohm’s sacrifice fly brought in Stott, making it 2-0 in the third inning.
Harper made a diving stop on an Ildemaro Vargas grounder in the third but threw wide to first. Rosario then hit a two-run homer to tie the game at 2-2.
The Nationals took a 3-2 lead when Winker homered to right center in the fifth.
After two Phillies walked in the bottom of the fifth, Harper singled off Jacob Barnes (2-1) to load the bases. Bohm’s sacrifice fly tied the game, and Robert Garcia came in to face Clemens, who doubled to right, scoring two and giving the Phillies a 5-3 lead. Castellanos then singled home Clemens, extending the lead to 6-3.
In the sixth, Johan Rojas led off with a single, and Kyle Schwarber walked. With one out, Harper doubled to center, scoring both runners to make it 8-3.
Bohm hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth after two walks, making it 11-3.
Keibert Ruiz singled home a run, and Jacob Young doubled home another in the ninth for Washington.
