This season, Théo Maledon has appeared in 17 games with the Charlotte Hornets and Phoenix Suns.
He shot 28.6% from the field and 16.7% from three-point range, averaging 3.5 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.
The Miami Heat’s G League franchise, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, declared on Monday night that they had acquired Maledon (via HoopsHype’s Alberto De Roa).
Maledon, who spent a portion of four NBA seasons with the Suns, Hornets, and Thunder, was originally selected with the 34th overall choice in the 2020 NBA Draft.
In 177 regular season games, he has averaged 7.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game while shooting 37.2% from the field and 31.0% from three-point range.
Maledon has also been a member of the G League for a long time.
In 24 regular season games (22 starts) last year, he shot 45.6% from the field and 32.4% from three-point range, averaging 15.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.
Maledon, who is just 22 years old, has the potential to be a valuable acquisition to the Heat or any other NBA team if he performs well for the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
With a 35-29 record through 64 games, the Heat are currently ranked as the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.
