According to the NRL, Michael Jennings will not be honored for his 300th game because of previous off-field incidents. After a lengthy hiatus, Jennings made his comeback to the league last Friday. He was activated as the Roosters’ 18th man and has since played in 299 first-grade games. It implies that he will reach the milestone the next time he plays on the field.
According to several sources, Jennings would not receive the match ball as a reward from the NRL, which usually recognizes players who surpass a certain milestone with a presentation. Andrew Abdo confirmed the information to Fox Sports. NRL chief Abdo informed Fox Sports that Michael Jennings would not get official NRL honors on his 300th career match because of his previous behavior.
The 35-year-old Jennings returned to action on Friday after suffering concussions from James Tedesco and Sam Walker. Considering that he had been banned from the sport for three years due to his use of performance-enhancing substances, his late-season signing with the Sydney Roosters came as a bit of a surprise.
There was also controversy at the center regarding his ex-wife’s civil court lawsuit. Despite Jennings’ denial of the charges and lack of charges against him, Jennings was ordered in 2021 to compensate his former partner for personal injury. In spite of this, on Friday night he was back in action when the NRL authorized the Roosters’ registration of his contract for the 2024 NRL season.
