Tee Higgins was reportedly given the franchise tag by the Cincinnati Bengals on February 26, 2024, with the intention of keeping him for a another season. That doesn’t, however, mean anything for the young wide receiver, who has shown he can compete with colleague Ja’Marr Chase despite having a difficult year due to injuries.
Officially, Higgins’ four-year rookie contract with the Bengals came to an end in January. He was willing to leave his present employer’s care until they could tag him for a year, according to a number of interested parties. If Higgins chooses to stay and team up with Joe Burrow and Chase to try to win the Super Bowl again, he will receive an enormous $21.8 million in compensation.
But Higgins has the last say over whether to stay with the Bengals. Like other free agents, he would rather be signed to a long-term contract than be here for just a year. Burrow also wants the 25-year-old to get what he wants from the Bengals.
According to NFL Insider, the Bengals could deal Tee Higgins.
Though in the end, Burrow doesn’t get to choose who he wants to play with, his comments may have some significance. And if Dan Graziano of ESPN.com isn’t getting good news on Higgins’ prospects in Cincinnati.
