Many NBA fans were curious about Draymond Green’s real penalty when it was revealed that he would be suspended indefinitely. It appears that a peek of it has now surfaced.
Shams Charania claims that Draymond Green will now be placed on a therapy regimen and would likely face a minimum three-week suspension. Head of basketball operations and NBA executive vice president Joe Dumars made the decision in light of Green’s “repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts.”
Hopefully, going to counseling actually provides Draymond Green with some ability to change himself. While people want to claim the past year of his career is where he really became unhinged, the fact is that he’s been unhinged his whole career. Both the NBA and the Golden State Warriors have enabled him year after year, letting him make dirty play after dirty play to the point where he didn’t think he was doing anything wrong.
The first part of Draymond Green’s rehabilitation has to be in the form of accountability. It has to be in the form of letting him know that the rules aren’t as special to him as he thinks they are, and that he should be getting held accountable for harming people so consistently. Hopefully, by the new year, Green will have made some progress toward that.
