Lamar Jackson, quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, is having another MVP-caliber season. If he plays well against the Jacksonville Jaguars on national television, he could keep up this good play.
In addition to rushing for an extra 644 yards and five scores this season, the 26-year-old star quarterback has completed a career-high 66.8 percent of his passes for 2,934 yards and 16 touchdowns.
He needs just 194 passing yards to beat the record he set in his MVP season—3,127 yards in 15 games—and establish a new career high. It will have been one fewer game if he can throw for at least 194 yards against the Jaguars.
Given how porous the Jacksonville secondary has been the past few weeks, it might be simpler to reach that milestone this week than anticipated. It has given up at least 300 passing yards to Joe Flacco, Jake Browning, and C.J. Stroud in three consecutive games. Against the Jaguars, the trio of quarterbacks completed 71.2 percent of their throws collectively.
With an MVP odds of +650, Jackson is now third on Fanduel Sportsbook, after Dak Prescott (+150) and Brock Purdy (+140). Jackson needs to close the gap, but there’s no better opportunity to do so than on Sunday Night Football against a top squad.
Jackson will be traveling back to his native Florida for the game, as the Ravens will be traveling to Jacksonville. EverBank Stadium will kick off at 8:20 p.m., and NBC will broadcast the match.
