In Week 14, the Buffalo Bills travel to Kansas City to play the Chiefs on Sunday afternoon with the goal of getting back on the winning track.
As Buffalo (6-6) moves into the second half of their 2023 campaign, every game will count. Kansas City, though, will present many challenges.
Each NFL team possesses a potent roster. The players on the opposing sideline are also paid, as they say.
There are a few specific issues Buffalo may have when playing the Chiefs this week, nevertheless.
As the Bills take on the Chiefs, there are three reasons to be concerned:
It still remains Mahomes, Patrick
The Kansas City offense as a whole, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, is not what we’ve grown used to. It takes a tremendous effort from Mahomes alone for KC to score 21 to 24 points in a game this season, as ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky stated.
Regardless of your stance on the matter, Mahomes and Travis Kelce, the tight end, are still active players. Mahomes is still a talent from a different generation, which is cause for concern.
They’re also desperate
The Detroit Lions, a formidable team this season, defeated the Chiefs in their opening game.
Kansas City then ripped off six straight victories.
True, the Chiefs are atop the AFC West. However, three of their last five games have ended in losses. With the playoffs quickly approaching, this is neither the momentum nor the footing that any team wants.
Though in a different context, Kansas City will play as desperate as the Bills do. Even though they defeated Buffalo in an ugly fashion, it’s the kind of win that might help them make a deep playoff run.
Behind Stefon Diggs
We have a bit of a self-pointing reason to be concerned, in a twist.
To begin with, though, the Chiefs’ defense has been far more important to their success this year than it has been in previous years. Nevertheless, they will have some confidence going into their matchup with the inconsistent Bills team.
However… Buffalo’s offense now possesses a change of pace. Dawson Knox, a tight end, was taken off injured reserve and is expected to play. Some players have performed well without Knox, including rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid and receiver Khalil Shakir.
Are all three of them compatible with the Bills’ plans?
