In response to Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles’ recent claim that defensive tackle Jordan Phillsip of the Buffalo Bills attempted to hurt a teammate, Jordan Phillips reacted on Wednesday.
“I don’t think Kelce has the authority or ability to demand a fine from someone for doing a lot of different things, even if he speaks about them being dirty.” I think it’s absurd that he would even bring up that,” Phillips stated, as reported by RochesterFirst.com. “How am I going to stop even though I weigh 335 pounds? … How could I know that it wasn’t going to go? I focused on him after observing the ball move, and I’m heading there.”
A brotherly shove, tush push, or quarterback sneak attempt saw Phillips leap offside in the first quarter of Philadelphia’s 37-34 overtime victory against Buffalo in Week 12, sending Eagles offensive tackle Cam Jurgens to the ground.
Among other things, Kelce stated the following last Wednesday on the “WIP Morning Show”: “At the time, I thought that was bullshit. (Phillips) intentionally wanted to hurt Cam Jurgens. He ought to get penalized, in my opinion, for that play.
Neither a penalty nor a fine was applied to the Bills defender during the play.
After criticizing Kelce for six seasons, Phillips continued, calling him a “well-respected guy around the league for whatever reason.” Additionally, he took issue with the 2011 draft pick for discussing specific subjects on his “New Heights” podcast with his younger brother, Travis Kelce, a tight end with the Kansas City Chiefs.
“He thinks he can use his voice now that he has one, as he appears on his brother’s podcast. However, Phillips added, “The way he’s using his voice doesn’t make any sense.”
Not all the turmoil that resulted from the late-November competition for the Oklahoma product was related to the disagreement with Kelce.
Defense ends Shaq Lawson and Gregory Rousseau, along with defensive tackle Ed Oliver and Phillips, were seen on tape talking with a green-clad spectator who was seated behind the Bills bench. Lawson even seemed to shove the guy during the interaction.
