The San Francisco 49ers’ injury report on Thursday is hardly the place to seek for good news.It appears that San Francisco will be without an offensive and defensive starter when they play the Seattle Seahawks in Week 14.
Due to foot and knee problems, defensive tackle Arik Armstead has already been declared out by Kyle Shanahan. Based on the update from their second practice of the week, it appears that numerous additional players may follow him on the sidelines.
Even though backup running back Elijah Mitchell and starting right guard Spencer Burford were both spotted practicing on a side field, the fact that they missed out on the field for the second day in a row is certainly not good for their availability.
If Burford is unable to recover from another knee injury—he missed the Week 12 game against the Seahawks due to a similar problem—Jon Feliciano will probably take over.
Mitchell was reportedly experiencing discomfort. However, it wouldn’t be shocking if he missed the game considering his lack of durability during his Niners career.
If so, Jordan Mason would be the one projected to replace starting Christian McCaffrey, and either Jeremy McNichols or Tyrion Davis-Price would be the most likely candidate to move up from the practice squad.
The 49ers may be being extra cautious, but All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams is not showing any signs of an issue. This is his second consecutive rest day.
