Even though they have Davante Adams, who is arguably the best wide receiver in the league, the Las Vegas Raiders signed wide receiver Jakobi Meyers this offseason; Meyers led the New England Patriots in receiving for three straight seasons. The Raiders had one of the best wide receiver groups in the National Football League going into the season.
While serving as the center of attention for rival defenses each week, Meyers managed to do that.
The seasoned wide receiver came to the Raiders with high expectations, and he has performed admirably in an offense with plenty of options.
More than half of the Raiders’ receiving touchdowns this season have come from Meyers, who has the second-most receiving yards on the squad.
With five games left, Meyers is on track to meet or even surpass his career high in receiving yards, but he has already tied his career high with six touchdown receptions.
It goes without saying that Meyers has justified the Raiders’ investment in him. Statistics show that his influence has been felt in the field.
Antonio Pierce, the interim coach, discussed how Meyers affects Las Vegas’ offensive line.
Pierce remarked, “You have to see the body of work.” “You see the man walk outside. He locates the safety and linebacker by pointing. He puts his face squarely in his and points at him. Then you watch him pick up a slant, go quickly to the crib, and make guys miss with his athleticism.”
Because of all the attention Davante [Adams] receives from double teams, he is a really special player. You should really watch No. 16; he is a very talented football player.
I kept telling him that was the kind of guy I wanted with me in a dark alley.”
Meyers may not attract the interest of other NFL receivers, but the Raiders cannot overvalue him. Although Josh McDaniels, the coach, made a number of blunders, one of which was not to bring Meyers to Las Vegas.
On Sunday, December 10, at 4:05 p.m. EST/1:05 p.m. PST, the Silver and Black will play the Minnesota Vikings at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
