The offense of the New York Giants has struggled this season, particularly since they lost their two best quarterbacks—Tyrod Taylor and Daniel Jones—to injuries.
When they started undrafted youngster Tommy DeVito as their starting quarterback, their passing game suffered greatly at first. However, DeVito has displayed composure and won two straight games in his first three appearances after settling in.
DeVito has additionally demonstrated his skill, as he ranks among the NFL’s best quarterbacks in terms of accuracy and locating open receivers. This season, he has thrown for seven touchdowns, which is more than Jones and Taylor combined have.
It appears that the rookie has realized that in this league, a strong arm is not necessary to make big plays. The Giants will need to take that into account this offseason as they decide which way to go with the quarterback situation.
