49ers’ 3 Top Players To Pursue With 2024 NFL Draft First-Round Pick

Their first-round selection won’t come until almost the end of the evening, but that’s what happens when you win the NFC Championship. Naturally, the San Francisco 49ers would like to be selected last because they would very certainly be the current Super Bowl champions. This time, Kyle Shanahan and the club were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs.

In an attempt to find their future quarterback, the 49ers traded away their first-round picks for the next three years, along with a 2022 third-round pick, to the Miami Dolphins. Now that Lance isn’t even on the team, San Francisco appears to have found their quarterback the year after drafting Lance, with their very last pick in the seventh round, No. 262 overall. This will be the first time since the 49ers have had a first-round pick since drafting quarterback Trey Lance at No. 3 overall in 2021.

Fortunately, in their short time together, general manager John Lynch and head coach Shanahan have developed a sustainable club that has grown into a well-run business. They simply haven’t yet received the desired outcome. They appeared to have filled up some gaps in free agency by adding depth and bringing in some essential players for brief contracts to fill key roles.

If the 49ers thought they could get more draft picks later on, or even in the future years, they could always trade out of the first round. However, we’re going to presume that they choose to remain with their overall No. 31 pick.
