Star fullback Tyrell Sloan will stay with the Dragons until the end of the 2026 season after signing a two-year contract extension. Sloan, a local junior, has played 48 games for the Dragons since debuting in 2021, scoring 25 tries.
“Tyrell’s an exciting young player who continues to learn and improve every week,” said Dragons coach Shane Flanagan. “We’re looking forward to seeing him continue to develop at the Dragons over the coming seasons.”
Jason Saab has extended his contract with the Sea Eagles until the end of the 2029 NRL Telstra Premiership season. Already signed through 2026, Saab has agreed to an additional three-year extension. Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold praised Saab’s significant improvement over the last 18 months and expressed confidence in his potential to become an elite winger.
The Sea Eagles also recently acquired Jake Simpkin from the Wests Tigers on a contract through 2026. Simpkin, a 22-year-old hooker, had played 41 NRL games for the Tigers since his debut in 2021.
The North Queensland Cowboys signed Kai O’Donnell to a two-year contract for the 2025 and 2026 seasons. O’Donnell, a former Cowboys Academy member, will return to North Queensland from the UK, where he played for Leigh. The Cowboys also secured prop Coen Hess on a new three-year contract until the end of the 2027 season and re-committed to prop Tom Mikaele with a two-year deal.
The Panthers re-signed back-rower Luke Garner for two more seasons, keeping him with the team until at least the end of 2026. Meanwhile, AJ Brimson extended his contract with the Gold Coast Titans until 2030, ensuring he remains a one-club player for at least the next six years.
The Panthers announced that Kiwi test star Isaiah Papali’i will join the team from the start of 2025. Papali’i, the 2021 Dally M Second Rower of the Year, will leave the Wests Tigers to join Penrith after negotiating an early release.
The Storm granted Aaron Pene an immediate release to join a Super League team. Pene debuted in the NRL in 2020 with the Dragons and played nine games in 2021 before joining the Warriors for the 2022 season.
The Dolphins agreed to a new two-year deal with forward Ray Stone, keeping him with the team until the end of 2026. Stone has played 26 matches for the Dolphins since joining from the Eels last year.
