The NFL Combine concluded over the weekend, signaling the onset of 2024 NFL mock drafts flooding in rapidly. Georgia football was well-represented at the combine with eleven players showcasing their skills, putting forth another impressive display.
ESPN’s NFL draft analyst Jordan Reid wasted no time, releasing a comprehensive two-round mock draft post-combine. Reid’s projections included four Georgia players within the top 40 picks.
Ranked 9th, tight end Brock Bowers was highlighted as a standout despite abstaining from combine testing. Widely regarded as the premier player in his position, there’s been speculation about a potential top-10 selection for Bowers, particularly considering the Los Angeles Chargers’ interest. With the Chargers seeking to bolster their offensive lineup alongside quarterback Justin Herbert, Bowers could seamlessly fit under newly appointed head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Ranked 20th, offensive tackle Amarius Mims caught the attention of the Pittsburgh Steelers, known for occasionally favoring former Bulldogs in their draft choices. Despite an unfortunate injury during the combine’s 40-yard event, Mims’ imposing physique and untapped potential make him a first-round prospect.
At 37th, cornerback Kamari Lassiter emerged as another Bulldog potentially bound for LA, according to Reid’s mock draft. Despite skipping the 40-yard dash, Lassiter showcased a solid performance overall. However, the intense competition in this year’s defensive back class might push him out of the first round, despite his undeniable talent.
Finally, wide receiver Ladd McConkey rounded out Georgia’s representation in the mock draft, projected to join the Tennessee Titans at 38th. Coincidentally, the Titans were mentioned as a favorable destination by Bowers himself. With the Titans possibly seeking to enhance their offensive options alongside quarterback Will Levis, McConkey’s versatility could prove invaluable. Additionally, playing close to home in the NFL would likely be a welcome prospect for McConkey, despite any concerns about the Titans’ current offensive outlook.
